General route information

All of our route data is in the Ride with GPS app. We have a club account that allows our members to use a lot of the premium features from a basic free account. You need to create your own personal basic (free) Ride with GPS account and then join the OCW Ride with GPS club account by using this link https://ridewithgps.com/auto_approve/Club/5473/Ym1LU1Dbr9JjGWmx. After this you will see the OCW logo on your RWGPS home page on your computer. Click on this logo and it will take you the the OCW RWGPS home page.

From here you can go to the route library to see all of our routes (currently over 1000). You can narrow your selection by using the “Tag” drop down box. Every starting location has a tag for that location. There are also tags for specific type routes like “Saturday Century”, “Remote”, “Amtrak” and others. The tags will cut down your list to scroll through.

There is also a “Collection” option. There are collections set up for each starting location. using the collection is a little easier to find a route because you have map on the right side of the screen that highlights the route as you scroll down the list.

Event option. The event option has all the scheduled rides listed. Select a ride and it will show you the route(s) for that event. The routes will be posted at least one week in advance of the ride.

You can look up the same information by using the Ride with GPS app on your phone. To get to the club information you will have to select the Organizations option at the top of your screen (you might have to scroll to the right). From here you will see the Orange County Wheelmen option. If you are a member of other clubs with Ride with GPS club accounts you will see their option also. Selecting the OCW club will bring you to the screen where it shows the next 3 events, 3 collections and 3 routes. To see more you will see a “View All” option with an arrow at the right of each section.

When you select an event you will see the general information for the ride and the route info. You will need to select the arrow on the right of the General Information to see all of the information including the route slip for the route. On a computer you will have a “Show More” option instead of the arrow. When you select a route you can look at the route. From here is you select “Save” you can send the GPS file to your bike computer (Garmin, Wahoo or Hammerhead are the supported bike computers). As soon as your computer does a sync you should have the route in your courses. The bike computer usually does a sync when you turn it on. I find it helpful to first send the GPS file to my device before I turn on my bike computer.

If you have any questions about any of this please let me know.
